Aphthous and other oral ulcers
Keywords: mouth ulcers, aphthous
AbstractMouth ulcers are extremely common, occurring in one in five people in the population. Although they usually heal without serious consequences, they can be very painful and can cause discomfort to patients, leading to difficulty in chewing and swallowing, which can result in weight loss. Occasionally, mouth ulcers may be due to more serious diseases, such as cancer, and it is important to identify and refer these patients for appropriate assessment and treatment.
