Topical antiviral drugs and antibiotics for minor viral and bacterial infections in the pharmacy

Abstract
Skin conditions, such as warts and cold sores, are viral skin infections. Conditions such as impetigo and boils are examples of bacterial infections of the skin. Advice can be offered for both in the pharmacy. Viral skin infections will be discussed first in this article, followed by bacterial skin infections.
