Abstract

Conjunctivitis is defined as inflammation of the thin membrane that covers the white of the eyes and lines the eyelids (conjunctiva). There are several potential causes of conjunctivitis, for example, bacterial or viral infections, allergies or nonspecific conditions such as a foreign body in the eye (for example, an eyelash or dust).
